Nine Earths is an immersive environmental documentary by artist collective D-Fuse, exploring the relationship between everyday events and humanity’s excessive demand for the Earth’s resources. It reveals global consumption patterns through the lens of climate justice. The artwork features a mosaic of day-to-day life, using footage shot by collaborators from around the world. Led by AI theme lead Kevin Walker, Nine Earths serves as a research project in visual ethnography, investigating what video collected by artists and young people in different countries can tell us about global consumption; and how feasible and suitable remote ethnography is for illuminating specific local contexts and making cross-cultural comparisons about consumption practices in relation to climate change.
